Not reading Samsung EVO SSD

Postby renx215 » Fri Jul 28, 2017 12:55 pm

I have a 500 Gb Samsung EVO connected to a write blocker as sata. When i try to image the drive I get the following error
Errors occurred while ingesting image
1. Cannot determine file system type (Sector offset: 0)

Mind you it does see the drive. Now this drive is normally used with my Xbox externally, but shouldnt the software be neutral to the file system or how the drive is used, and only look at the actual raw data?

The problem is most likely with the filesystem.

Which Xbox version do you have and how is the disk formatted?

FATX was common to Xbox 360 and earlier. I don't have access to an Xbox One and don't know what those use. I do know Xbox supports common Microsoft filesystems (i.e. NTFS, FAT32, etc.), but that doesn't mean one of those were used.

Can your Windows computer read the disk? If not, I'd expect FATX or some later version, which Autopsy doesn't support as far as I'm aware.
